Mikhael Jaime Shamis MezrahiBackground of World Youth Bank Group Chairman Mikhael Jaime Shamis Mezrahi
Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi is a seasoned investment banker, consultant, and fund manager. He has consulted on M&A and investments transactions in more than 20 countries.
In his expansive over 24 year career, he was the Bankers Trust country-head for over three years, in charge of Investment Banking and the broker-dealer vehicles. He was also a member of a Bankers Trust’s proprietary Latin American Investment Committee. Finally, Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi has been a consultant with the Ministry of Finance of Venezuela working with the former Minister of Finance Mr. Nobrega Suarez.
Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi was the Secretary General of the Private Banking Association. More recently, Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi was Head of Asset Structuring and Credit for a $2 Billion Market Debt Fund based in Mexico City, where he was responsible for investments in the UAE, Qatar, China, Nigeria, Singapore, Angola and Brazil.
Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi holds a Master degree (summa) from San Diego State University in 1987and a MBA from Geneva in 1998.
A business development-oriented Senior Executive, banker and management consultant; Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi is the former Asset Structuring and Credit Director of a $2.1 Billion Emerging Markets Fund, with investments in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Founder, Country Head and former Manager for 5 years of a Bankers Consortium Banks and Trust – World Youth Bank, including the Broker-Dealer operation, with full P&L responsibility. Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi has extensive experience preparing presentations, writing proposals, assisting in negotiations, due diligence, legal documentation, and closings. Mr. Shamis-Mezrahi has participated in regional investment committees of a Banker’s Trust; and advised and closed numerous M&A transactions, as well as institutional investors/proprietary traders of the bank.
